Christian Louboutin heels are the most iconic shoe out there.  Those red bottoms and the sexiness that they exude make every fashion lover giggle with excitement.  And I am no exception.  But, I could never justify the steep price tag that also comes with them.  I mean, how can you be ok with wearing shoes that cost more than some people’s rent for the month?

While I am obsessed with shoes and high end fashion, I also know that going into credit card debt or worse draining your savings for material items just isn’t worth it.  I finally decided I needed a plan on how I was going to save up for this splurge.

How to save for your splurge purchase

My favorite app that I used to save my hard earned money is called Digit.  And the concept of the app is that you sync your bank account to the app and it researches your spending habits.  It takes into account how often and when you get paid, what your spending habits are like, what days you spend your money, etc.  And then it takes small amounts of money and transfers it into an account within the Digit app.  Sometimes as little as $1.24 and it goes up from there depending on how much is in your account and how aggressively you want save.   Sounds like a scam right?  I thought the same thing when I first came across this, but I promise you, this is legit.  I have been using this for over a year now and I use it to save for my “splurges” every season.

I’ve also gotten into the habit of transferring money into this app every time I get paid.  So I am double saving.  And the best part is that it’s mindless money that you don’t see from your account.  You can tell the app to save more or less at any time.  And you can easily transfer money back into your checking account at any time.  It just takes a few days for the transaction to go thru.  The real bummer about this app is that it use to be free, but now they have to charge a fee of $2.99 per month.  I still find this worthwhile and a great way to save for my splurges, so I pay the monthly fee.

About the shoes

So now that you know how to save up for your new shoes, I will tell you why you need these!  First off, yes they are insanely expensive for a pair of heels, BUT they will last a lifetime.  I decided to go with the Pigalle Patent Leather in Nude because these can be worn all the time and with everything.  I have an obsession with nude heels, so naturally I knew that I would wear this color a lot.  And I always say this- it’s about how many times you plan to wear your item divided by the price.  So the more you wear something, the less the price is per wear.  So in the end, I know I will get my money’s worth.

These shoes are classic, sexy and mysterious.  And also, oh so comfortable.  I wore them to a recent wedding I attended and I was a little nervous because it was my first time wearing them. But also I love to dance the night away and I didn’t want my feet to hurt.  This was the first wedding I was still on the dance floor at the end of the night WITH my heels on.  They were SO comfortable!  It could have been all the proseco’s I drank that  night but I have never worn high heels like that for an entire night.  I know I will get so many wears out of these shoes and I can’t wait to wear them more!
