Ahhhh- I really can’t believe it’s already that time of year, but this week starts the biggest sale of the season. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019!!!!! And today I wanted to pop in and give you a few details to get you prepared for the sale and also some of my pointers for shopping the sale.
What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019
In case you aren’t familiar with the Nordstrom Anniversary sale 2019, it’s a sale where the put items on sale before the start of the fall season. So you will see items that are brand new and on sale before the fall season even begins. It’s a really great sale to stock up on items and get at a discounted rate for the best season of the year!! I love fall if you haven’t noticed by now.
Dates to Know
Friday July 12– the sale opens to Nordstrom card members only at 12:30PM ET
Thursday July 18– last day to shop early access
Friday July 19– the sale opens up to the public
Sunday August 4th– last day of the sale. Price go back up on August 5th
First off the sale begins Friday July 12. Yes that’s this Friday! But you are only able to access the sale on July 12 if you are a Nordstrom card holder. Sign up here if you want to access the sale sooner. If you are like me and a lot of people, I don’t want another credit card. But in this situation it’s totally worth it to access this sale sooner rather than later. If you don’t have the Nordstrom credit card, you are able to shop the sale starting July 19th.
Tips for Shopping the Sale
- Shop as early as you can (either July 12 for card members or July 19 if you do not have the card). You want to shop specifically on these dates to make sure you get the best selection on sizing and colors. The most popular items sell out fast!
- Stuff goes quick, so buy it while you can. I’ve never regretted buying something from the sale because Nordstrom has an amazing return policy. If you like it, I recommend just scoop it up while you can. Every year I have at least one regret of not buying something right away when it was available in my size. This year I plan on not making the same mistake!
- Analyze your closet now. Access what you really think you need this fall. The sale can get overwhelming because there is just so much on sale! And it’s all at really great prices. So narrow down a few things you might need (more on that below).
- Set a budget. Figure out what you want to spend and stick to it. It’s so easy to overspend on this sale because there is just so much good stuff. But it’s not worth it in the end if you can’t afford it!
- Restocks. So in years past Nordstrom would always “hold” sizing and color ways on popular items and then they would release more inventory online at random dates or times. Or they would hold back inventory when the sale would open up to the public. But last year was the first year I noticed that they did not do that. So once an item was sold out- it was sold out unless there was a return. This just means if you like something, just buy it. I never say that and I hate telling you to buy without thinking, but you will regret it if you don’t.
- Be cautious on some items. Something else that I’ve noticed in the past so that, let’s say a sweater is part of the Nordstrom sale at a great price. You buy this said sweater, but if you live in the midwest like me you can’t wear said sweater until end of September/October time frame usually because it’s still 80 degrees outside. Well, what I’ve noticed is that by the time you are actually able to finally wear this sweater, its marked down and at times cheaper than what it was during the Nordstrom sale. So just be cautious. If it is something you truly love and know you will wear a ton- of course buy it! But chances are it could be on sale by the time you actually go to wear it. There is always a risk you take though when doing this because by the time its on clearance in September/October they might not have your size or color you originally wanted. It’s all a gamble! I just get really mad when I buy something that I can’t wear right away and it sits in my closet and by the time I can actually go to wear it, it’s cheaper than what I originally paid of it!
- Call a sales associate. If you see that an item you want is sold out online, don’t be afraid to call the store. The sales associate can track an item down for you and have it shipped from another store (for free!). I almost always do this when I really want an item and it’s sold out in my size online.
What’s On My Shopping List for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019
- Nordstrom makes the best pj’s! I pick up a pair every year at the sale and this year will be no different. They have the short set or long sleeve set. I have both and wear them year round!
- Barefoot dreams cardigan– I bought a blanket last year and this brand really lives up to all of the hype. The cardigans are wonderful for those chilly Saturday mornings.
- Kiehl’s hand lotion– this is by far the best lotion you will ever use. It’s non greasy and has no scent and works like magic! I keep one in my desk drawer and apply it all day long. I always stock up during the sale on this item.
- Cashmere scarf- I am on the hunt this fall for a black or grey oversized cashmere scarf.
- Robe- I really need a robe. During the winter months I find myself always freezing because we keep our apartment on the cooler side so wrapping up in one really sounds amazing.
- Hanky Panky underwear– these are the only underwear that I’ve worn for years and they are always included in the sale so this year I’m stocking up.
- Cashmere sweater- I’ve been lusting after a Vince cashmere sweater for years now and I know they always have some included in the sale. This might be my one splurge this year!
- Outwear- I always check out the outwear selection. Last year I bought a sweater coat that I basically lived in and this year I’m on a hunt for a cute teddy coat or a classic Barbour jacket.
Items On My Radar from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019

I’m not crazy about the color of this sweater, but if it comes in tan, gray or black I will be scooping this up for sure. I like that its a little longer so I know I will wear it all the time with leggings or even to work. This is one of those pieces you will get a ton of wear out of.

Now is the time to buy designer denim. They always have such a good selection at such great prices. I bought a pair of Rag & Bone jeans two years ago at the sale and they are still my favorite pair I own.
