My daughter turned 5 in July and so far I am really loving this age. She is so smart and creative, but still a little kid who wants to hang out with mom and dad. My husband and I get wrapped up into some of these toys too (and we actually enjoy them!). Our daughter is very creative and above anything, loves to color and do arts and crafts. She is also very girly, loves princess dresses, makeup (I have a great gift for girls this age!), and loves all things cozy like stuffed animals and blankets. Here are the best gifts for 5 year old girls….tested by a 5 year old!
Best Gifts for 5 Year Old Girls

Makeup Kit | Barbie Camper | Pj’s | Stuffed Animal | Scooter | Mermaid Barbie | Bracelet Kit | Hello Kitty Dress | Sensory Kit
Makeup Kit– My daughter loves putting on makeup and getting ready with me in the morning. This set is real makeup, but the application of it is very faint. When my daughter adds the blush to her cheeks for example, it is very soft and faint and I don’t think you would even notice it if you weren’t looking closely even when they have a heavy hand. The set also comes with jewels to decorate with which my daughter loved doing.
DIY Bracelet Craft Kit– My daughter loves making these bracelets for herself, her friends and our entire family. My husband wears one every day that she made for him. They also make larger kits like this one and this one. The bag charm kits are also really fun and a cute wait to celebrate back to school. She loves to add these to her backpack and I add them to my purse. And she loves gifting this to her little friends for their backpacks too.
Art Supplies- My daughter loves to draw and color. I like to buy her these markers because you don’t have to keep track of the tops. And she either likes this drawing paper or this circular paper for drawings.
Tonies Box– We have had the Tonies box since her first birthday and she has loved it ever since. It’s been fun for her to collect all of the different charcasters over the years. She still listens to it at night when is climbs into bed. Some of her favorite Tonies are- Tinkerbell, Elsa from Frozen, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Zootopia, Sky from Paw Patrol and Finding Dory.
Princess Dresses- Little girls love to play dress up and princess dresses are the best gifts for 5 year old girls. Our favorites is this light up Elsa dress which is actually pretty good quality. And lately, she loves wearing this mermaid costume (which also lights up).
Barbie Camper– My daughter plays with her Barbie camper every night after she is supposed to be in bed haha. It’s great for imaginative play. This one is nice because it comes with all the accessories they need and it can be moved around quite easily because everything can be stored and closed up into the camper. So if you want one big gift that keeps on giving- this is the best gift!
Little Sleepies Pj’s– If you want a more practical gift, Little Sleepies are our favorite pj’s. They are constantly coming out with new (and adorable) prints for all of the holidays and seasons and really anything you can think of. She also loves the dresses to wear to school especially the holiday themed dresses. Right now, she can’t stop wearing the Halloween pj’s or dress that both glow in the dark.
Doctor Kit– She loves to play doctor- maybe one day she will become one haha. She plays doctor on her stuffed animals, on us and our dog and this kit has everything she needs for pretend play.
Sensory Kit– This sensory kit is hands down one of the best gifts for 5 year old girls (or even boys too). My daughter loves playing with these kits. Anytime, I really need to get stuff done for an extended period of time, we pull one of these out. And the dough lasts so long, doesn’t smell gross and the kits has lots of fun items to get creative with. Her baking kit is one of her favorites and she loves to make cakes and cupcakes with it.
Dresses- I can only get my 5 year old daughter to wear dresses. If you want to give a fancy, fun dress as a gift check out Lola & the Boys. They are every little girls dream. A little over the top, but the quality is great and when you see their faces light up- it’s worth it! My daughter has this Hello Kitty dress and I know she would love this one too!
Stuffed Animals- This could honestly be it’s own post because every 5 year old loves stuffed animals. Our newest one is this capybara one that we somehow did that have yet. I personally like the smaller stuffed animals because they take up so much less space to store them.
Blanket– This is another item that my 5 year old loves collecting. She received this rainbow unicorn pink blanket for her birthday and it’s been her favorite ever since. I like that it’s really lightweight so it’s great during the summertime when she wants to cover up with it at night. But it doesn’t make her too hot.
Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty– My daughter cannot get enough of this thinking putty. It keeps her busy and engaged. It can get a little messy at times, but I make her play with it on either her drawing table or the kitchen table to avoid any accidents.
Games- The best gifts for 5 year old girls are games. We like to play these together as a family after dinner. Currently, her favorite is Guess Who. And I just realized they make a Hello Kitty version which she would die over (big Hello Kitty fan!). Other favorite games include Go Fish, Snug as a Bug in a Rug, Candy Land and this matching game.
Mermaid Barbies– She loves playing with these mermaid Barbies in the bathtub or at the pool or even with her camper above (the camper has a pool). Every time we go to to the pool, we have to make sure we have at least two on hand because every little girl wants to play with one too.
Air Dry Clay– Lately, we have been spending a lot of time make all kinds of fun creations with this clay. This kit is nice because there is a booklet that shows you how to make different items. Some of them are pretty intricate, but we just do our best! This is something we have all enjoyed doing as a family.
Kinetic Sand– This is another fun activity for her to do and she can get really creative with it. It can get a little messy with the sand, but it does clean up easily and it doesn’t ruin anything.
Scooter– Every 5 year old needs a scooter. She loves riding hers and I adore the look of this one. The basket is really cute and functional. She loves to add her treasures to it when we are out on rides. It is adjustable, so they can use it for a few years.
