I am so excited to share my new light blue swivel chairs!!! They are just everything! And honestly, even better in person. There is a little story about them so I wanted to share that as well. And share a few progress pics of our play room- where the light blue swivel chairs will live. It’s starting to look so good and I’m so happy with it!
Backstory
The story behind my light blue swivel chairs goes on for weeks haha. I actually can’t believe I actually have them because I think I ordered them approximately six times- at least! I originally saw these chairs being shared by a few bloggers I follow and I remember thinking, I really love the color of them. They would look so nice in my house! The problem is, I had no where to put them. So I sort of forgot about them.
Well a few weeks later it occurred to me that they would be perfect in our play room. We only had the couch in there and desperately needed more seating. Most nights Kurt would end up on Sloane’s mini chair haha because Addie and I would take over the couch. That’s when I decided to piece it all together make a design board I shared in this post. And I loved the design and how it all came together on paper.
So I decided I was going to order the light blue swivel chairs. I keep placing an order and the next day my order would get canceled. It was such a high because I was so excited only to be disappointed the next day that they had canceled my order. I think I did this two or three times before I decided to give it a break.
At this point, they were pretty much sold out on every website I found them at (I did a Google images search and stalked all the websites that sold them!). And the couple of sites that still had them in stock- they had raised the price dramatically. Over a week or two, I decided I would watch the prices and literally every day I would check them multiple times a day haha. I was obsessed, but determined to get them!
Finally, they came down in price a little bit and I told Kurt- I’m ordering them. I don’t care about the price anymore. They are exactly what I want. I held my breath thinking they would get canceled. And to my surprise they were not canceled, but shipped out the next day!!!
I waited a few days and literally ran to the street when I heard the FedEx truck arrive that day! Butttt they shipped the completely wrong chair. Not even the same type of chair. It was a completely different chair altogether and a different color. They were actually leather.
So I refused the order from FedEx and had them shipped back. They confirmed a few days later that they in fact, did not have that chair in the light blue color. So I was back at square one.
At this point, I was pretty bummed. But I remembered a similar chair that I had come across a few times in my search and decided to revisit them. My initial hesitation was that I didn’t like that you could see the black part on the bottom. And the original chair had a skirt that covered that part so it wasn’t visible.
While on my search, I was contemplating a different chair altogether- and even on higher end chairs you could also see that black part of the chair. I think it is just how most swivel chairs are made.
I made up my mind that I was going to order this chair and could live with the black part. I was probably going to be the only one that even noticed it. It was the exact color I wanted (the closest chair I found in this light blue was a $3k chair and that was way out of my budget!) and I really like the style of the chair too. But I knew there was a big sale coming up on Wayfair so I decided to see if the price would go down a little bit for the sale. After searching for weeks, I had seen the price fluctuate quite a bit, so I had a feeling I could save some money by waiting and being patient.
The day the sale started, I was a little disappointed that the price hadn’t changed. But I still decided to order them! They were exactly what I wanted! For whatever reason I decided to look at them again a few hours later and I kid you not they were $50 cheaper- FROM THE SAME RETAILER. I immediately canceled my order and re-placed them on the same site. Sometimes these retailers are annoying with price adjustments so I thought this would be easier.
And then I think I just got a little too overzealous at this point haha and I decided to do a Google search on them and see if I could find them even cheaper on a different site. And I did! Walmart had the cheapest price! Canceled that order and placed them thru Walmart.
They shipped the next day and came in only a few days. I was so excited to get them set up when they delivered.
Review
Overall, I am so happy with these swivel chairs. It has only been a few days of us having them, but I am obsessed with them already. They are so cozy and feel like you are wrapped up in a hug. Even Sloane likes sitting on them! You can comfortably sit in them with your legs on the floor. And you have just enough room to curl up in them too. I like that they are low profile, so they don’t block my big windows out to my backyard.
The best part about them is that they rock and swivel. It is such a nice feature about them. They would be perfect in a baby boy’s nursery too. The blue is gorgeous in person and matches my room so well. They are the perfect blue to match my wallpaper, which is a really hard color to find/match. They also come in other colors if blue doesn’t match your décor. I am so happy with them and have zero remorse in buying this chair vs. waiting for the skirted option to come back into stock. I don’t even really notice the black bar, only if you are looking for it.
And I also got a new rug too! That delivered a couple of days prior to the chairs. And it is exactly what I wanted. Actually better than I could have imagined. This rug is really reasonably priced, especially if you need a larger size (mine is a 9×12). It even has a sticky back to the rug, so you don’t need to spend more money on a rug pad.
And just to note- the bench is a placeholder. I have this one on order, but it’s a long lead time. So one day it will be here haha.
I love how this room is coming together! What do you think of the progress so far?! I love seeing a finished room in all its glory, but it is also kind of fun to see the progress pics too. Next up, I am going to add artwork and lots of accessories! Stay tuned 🙂
