Last week was my birthday! And I ended up taking the day off work- specifically so I could put up my Christmas decorations. I think I might do this every year from now on! It was so nice to do it uninterrupted haha.
And I know I said I was going to wait until closer to Christmas this year. But I couldn’t help myself! I was getting the itch and feeling left out haha. And it’s so much work to do to only enjoy it for a few weeks. I was a little nervous about Sloane this year. But actually she has been really good with it. Of course she has been curious. And I have let her touch and feel and look at everything. I did have to rearrange a few things that were at the bottom. But I think that was to be expected!
We celebrated my birthday with dinner with my girlfriend and her husband at Sam Morella in downtown Detroit. And it was so good! I couldn’t get over how packed it was. I will say, I thought the service was horrible. We waited a good hour before our apps even came out. And then even longer for dinner. I was starving when we finally did eat. So that was kind of a bummer. But I would still go back because it was that good!
The outfit above is what I ended up wearing. And I am obsessed with this blouse. I can’t get over how well it is made and the fit is just perfection. Usually low cut tops are just too low for me. But this one fits perfectly. And I love the volume in the sleeves. This is my first time buying anything from this brand and I’m now hooked! Full review on my jeans here which are now 40% off!
I did end up buying myself a Dyson for my birthday too! Sam’s Club had them on sale last weekend. I’ve always wanted one, but we never really had the need for one. But having a home and a messy toddler has created that need! I have been wanting something I can quickly get out and clean up every few days instead of lugging around our big vacuum. And let me tell you- I’m hooked! I now know why everyone loves their Dyson. It is lightweight, powerful and gets the job done quickly and efficiently. My house is going to be so much cleaner now!
How crazy is it that Thanksgiving is already next week! I can’t get over how fast the last few months have flown by. The holidays are always an exciting time of year. And I’m excited for Sloane to really get to experience them this year.
And I know I talked about this in last week’s post. But I can’t get over this meal plan and recipe booklet. I bought volume 1 and we are almost all the way through all of the recipes. Wow, they are delicious! I told Kurt that this is making me look like a good cook haha. Everything is so flavorful and delicious. This past Sunday I made the steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus. And while it was a treat as it won’t be something we will eat often- it was soooooo good!
Here are a few things I’ve found while shopping lately:
- I recently placed a big order from J.Crew and my absolute favorite thing from my order was this fleece. Wow- it’s adorable! It has this really high collar which makes it really unique and I know I will get a ton of wear out of this. I plan to wear it with navy leggings and sneakers or boots.
- I’ve been doing a little shopping lately (I always do this time of year!) and I bought these ribbed leggings that are really fun! It’s a little more elevated than your basic black leggings.
- In my Lululemon order, I also caved and bought the Sherpa belt bag. I absolultely love my white belt bag I bought over the summer. But it was a little too summery. So I thought this one would be perfect for the colder temps. And no surprise here, I love this thing! It is so nice to be hands free. #1 gift you can give to anyone this season. They go in and out of stock so just keep checking back.
- I don’t have any weddings or fancy events this holiday season, but if you do- please buy this dress!!! I am obsessed with it! And while it is under $200, it looks so much more expensive. I just love the color of it.
- My mom was telling me how she thinks flared leggings are really cute and that she wanted a pair so I was trying to track some down for her. At first I didn’t really like this trend, but that is probably because I feel like I just got rid of my flared leggings! But now I am seeing them more and more and they are really cute. I love this pair and this much more affordable pair.
- I’ve had my eye on this blouse and think it would be so cute to wear for Thanksgiving! I’ve had a hard time lately finding cute blouses that aren’t terribly expensive and I adore this one.
- I just bought myself these boots for winter. The color of them is perfect. I also featured them in my Fall shoe guide and I’ve been thinking about them every since!
- Everyone needs a fun shoe for the holiday season- how cute are these?!
- I use this purple shampoo about once a month when I wash and it is the absolute best purple shampoo I’ve ever used. I’ve tried quite a few over the years and I never feel like they help to take the brassiness out. My mom first tried this and she told me it turned her hair purple! Which I know can happen if you leave it on too long, but I had to try it for myself. Well I left it on too long and it also turned my hair purple too! But in a good way haha. This stuff is potent and really works. I like to shampoo and leave it on for five minutes or so and then rinse it out. Start small and work your way up though! It really helps to cut the brassiness from my hair and gives my blonde longer life.
- Recently got this pair of grey leggings and I really feel like they make my legs look skinnier! I can’t stop wearing them.
- The absolute best smelling Christmas candle you will ever smell. I buy myself one during the holidays and just love it this time of year.
- I thought this artwork was just the cutest thing ever. Would look really cute in a nursery or a little girls room.
- These mittens are adorable and would make a cute gift. I have always been team mittens as I think they keep your hands warmer!
- This dress is a splurge, but I am absolutely in love with it! It would be perfect for a fancy holiday party.
- I just added these sneakers to my cart. I love the colors in them. And I am obsessed with this brand. Seriously the most comfortable pair of sneakers I’ve worn in a long time.
