I always wonder if splurging on a pair of sunglasses is really worth it.  We’ve all been there, myself included.  For the most part, I think you truly are paying for a brand.  There are so many similar styles out there that you can find a style that fits your face, needs and budget.  Sunglasses are that one item that I am always concerned that I am going to lose!  I’m always so careful when I wear my more expensive pairs to make sure I put them in my case and back into my purse right away when I’m not wearing them.  They are too important to misplace!

Every season, just like my shoes, I like to buy a new pair of sunglasses.  And this usually happens to be in the Spring time right before we go on vacation.  This year every blogger was raving about this pair and who could blame them- they are only $70!  I kept checking back at Nordstrom’s site and eventually they were re-stocked.  And you guys know one of my favorite bloggers, Rachel of Pink Peonies?  I talked about her in this post.  I about died when I saw her wearing this pair.  I had to have them!

Ok I know I said I usually buy one pair a season, but this year I had to have two pairs!  I just couldn’t decide.  So it got me thinking that I wanted to do a sunglasses review of all different price points.  And in the end I wanted to find out if splurging on a pair is really worth the investment.

I also want to note that I am a contact wearer and have extremely sensitive eyes.  I’m the girl wearing sunglasses even when it is overcast.  I always protect my eyes first and foremost.  And I would rather look silly wearing my sunglasses on a cloudy day than squinting and causing wrinkles.  Hey, it happens!  Ok here goes my full sunglasses review!

These are on the less expensive end of sunglasses.  I usually like to invest in a pair, but these were too cute to pass up!  And I know that this shape is something that I will get sick of.  I’m usually more of an aviator girl over anything.  The frame is very thick and feels much more expensive than it actually is.  I have a hard time keeping them up on the my nose.  They always seems to be falling down, which I’m not a fan of.  And I don’t really think these block the sun that well.  I find myself still squinting even when I’m wearing them.

Verdict: Love the style and the price, but when I’m out in the sun all day, I will be reaching for another pair.

Price: $

Overall thoughts: The quality is amazing for the price.  And I would buy them again, but knowing that they will be more for looks than protecting and blocking the sun.

I’ve had my pair of Ray-Bans for almost four years now!  Kurt and I both splurged on a pair right after we got married.  And I’ve since had to replace his twice now 🙁  Mine are still trucking along though!  I haven’t been able to find my exact frame anywhere online, but these are a very close option.  I did pay the extra $50+ to get the polarized lenses and this has made a world of difference.  I never want to own another pair of sunglasses without these type of lenses.  They block the sun and I don’t find myself squinting at all!

And I absolutely love the shape and style of these on me.  They are a classic pair that will never go out of style, which is probably why I’ve owned them for four years now!

Verdict: I absolutely love these and wear them every day.  At least every day when it’s sunny out.

Price: $$

Overall thoughts: I don’t see this brand or style of sunglasses going away anytime soon.  These are a very safe bet!

These are the most expensive pair of sunglasses I’ve ever owned.  I never thought I would splurge like this on a pair but I fell in love with them.  And I’m usually not the person who buys similar pairs either.  At a quick glance, these are very close to the Ray-Ban pair I already own.  I couldn’t find them anywhere in store, so one day I ordered them mostly because I just wanted to try them on.  My initial thoughts when I received them was- this is it?  I was kind of disappointed.  They felt extremely light and flimsy.  I decided to wear them around my house for a bit and the more I wore them the more I loved them.

At first, I didn’t understand why they were so light.  But then it dawned on me.  When I’m laying by the pool all summer long, I get huge dents in the side of nose from wearing my sunglasses too long.  Sometimes I even have to take them off for a bit of time because I’m in so much pain.  I realized that the weight of these is perfect for those long pool days!

One aspect that I don’t like is that these are not polarized lenses.  If you spend this much money on a pair of sunglasses, they should at least be top of the line.  I’m defiantly disappointed that I still have to squint a little in harsh sunlight.

Verdict: I love how light they are.

Price: $$$

Overall thoughts: You are paying for the brand with this particular pair.  But the lightness of these makes them easy to wear for long periods of time.

Overall Verdict

If I could choose just one pair and only have one pair I would choose…… my Ray-Bans.  They are everything I need in a pair of sunglasses.  The shape, price, lens and the fact that they are never going out of style all make for a great investment.  You can get Ray-Bans for a little cheaper if you don’t get the polarized lens, but I strongly recommend you do upgrade.  It has made the world of difference for me!

Which pair would you choose?

I have a love/hate with family photos. It always s I have a love/hate with family photos. It always sounds like a great idea when you book them, but they always end up being way more work than you think. Work always ends up being crazy that day, something always goes wrong with someone’s outfit (this year it was Sloane’s adorable pink shoes that I swear I just bought her. They were too tight 🤨- so she threw on her rain boots). The weather is never quite what you expected when you planned everyone’s outfits. I swear I threw my dress on and had 2 minutes to spare before we were out the door. The stress and planning that entails for 15 minutes of photos is crazy lol. And then you get them back and they perfectly capture your family 💙 I’m grateful we do these every year even if the process is a little crazy #fallfamilyphotos @tessamerrillphotography
