I accidentally took a few weeks off of the blog! Things just started to get a little crazy and this is what took the backseat. But I’m back with a new life lately post š
My mom was in town over Mother’s Day weekend and it was the best weekend! It was so good to see her and Sloane had a blast with her too. Sloane got so spoiled by Grandma haha. What are Grandma’s for?
We have also been working really hard on our yard and it looks so good. Our yard has needed a lot of help, but I finally feel confident in our backyard at least. The front is another story lol, but we will get there slowly. It looks really good this year. Last year was all about cleaning up the flower beds and weeding and really just seeing what we have. We pulled a lot of stuff out and replanted stuff so it makes a little more sense.
And this year we are just making it even better by adding more hydrangeas! Which I am so excited for. We planted blue and pink ones over the weekend. There will be this long row now of blue and pink hydrangeas along our patio and I can hardly wait for them all to bloom this year. I hope it looks as good as it does in my head haha.
We are also going to plant about seven hydrangea bushes along our garage. I want a very specific kind and I guess they are hard to find. I have them on order at a local nursery, but they haven’t come in yet.
I’m excited for them to all bloom so I can cut them and have them in my house. I used to always buy flowers at Trader Joe’s every week. But I cut that that out awhile ago to help reduce our grocery bill. So fresh flowers will be so nice to have this summer.
Sloane is a little budding gardener. She loves playing in the dirt, watering the flowers and just being my little sidekick. It’s really cute!
Our pool opened this weekend and we spent Memorial Day there. It was so much fun. Sloane had a blast. We have a kiddie pool that has lots of water sprouts and the water doesn’t go very deep. So it’s perfect for her to play in. We are already planning on going there for a few hours every weekend. I’m excited to finally be tan this summer!
In other news, I finally decided on new house numbers and a mailbox! It only took me a year haha. I just couldn’t decide. I know it’s silly, but it just felt like such a permanent decision because we would have to drill into our siding. So if I hated it, I was kind of out of luck. Well, we were at Home Depot one day and I saw these adhesive house numbers and I thought they would be perfect. We’ve had them up for a few weeks now and haven’t had any issues, so hopefully it lasts. And I ended up getting this mailbox. I’ve been really happy with how it all looks!
On another note, I decided that I am not going to be doing any shopping in June. I need a reset haha. I usually do this every year in January and I think I am going to add a mid-year month as well. So June it is. I’m putting that out there so I can hold myself accountable. I did, however, order a lot of stuff over Memorial Day weekend haha so I feel like I’ve gotten my shopping in. I plan on doing a post about what I bought and what I’m keeping, so stay tuned.
And here are some shopping finds I’ve found lately š
- I ordered these Birkenstock’s and I’m kind of excited for them. My style has become really casual lately and I’m embracing it. I am a lot more active and up for walks/working out when I am already dressed in athletic wear. And I thought these Birkenstock’s would look really cute with all of my workout gear. I used to wear these in high school so this feels very full circle!
- How cute is this tennis skirt for the 4th of July? I love wearing red, white and blue this time of year.
- I think this straw hat is really cute and it’s a really good price too.
- These are the best jean shorts. I had another pair that were shorter and wore them for years. But they are just too short these days, especially when I am bending over and chasing after Sloane. I can already tell I am going to live in them this summer. I’m actually wearing them as I write this š
- Sloane loves to play with her bubble machine that she got last year for her birthday. And we ran out of bubbles so I ordered these for only $3. Hopefully it lasts awhile.
- I am obsessed with this bathing suit top and bottoms. I ordered it in the blue, so I’m hoping its as cute in person as it is on the model. I’ve always had good luck with Target swim. Bathing suits is the one thing I refuse to spend a lot of money on!
- I love this dress so much! But have nowhere to wear it too. I am going to heart it and see if it goes on sale. It might be cute for my 40th birthday celebration later this year. No idea what we are doing yet, but I’m already thinking about what I will wear haha.
- These sneakers are adorable. I really love the color of them. I had a pair from this brand and gave them to my mom because I just couldn’t break them in. So I am going to have think about these. I’m all about comfort these days. The color is perfect though!
- I got this cute 4th of July book as a gift, but Sloane had to read it when it came in haha. We have a few from this author and they are really cute.
- These might be the best kids shoe for summer. Sloane wears hers all the time and they are really nice because she can wear them to the pool and get them wet. I got white which might not have been the smartest idea haha, but they wash up really easily. They come in a ton of other colors.
- I ordered myself this cute scallop tennis dress and I’m really excited to get it. I love the scallops.
- I’m in love with these American flag plates. And the best part is that they are melamine so you can use them outside. Someday I will have special plates for every holiday, it’s just my thing š Here’s the dinner plate option.
- My mom got Sloane this adorable dress for the 4th of July. Can’t wait to see her in it!
- I have this trio planter that looks really cute with flowers in it on my coffee table outside and I saw this matching citronella candle that I am tempted to buy.
