I’ve now had my Gucci Soho Disco bag for about five months and lately I’ve been carrying it non stop. So today, I wanted to share the pros and the cons on this bag.
I knew this spring and summer I wanted a nude crossbody bag and something that could go with just about every outfit. And I wanted to make sure I could dress it up or wear it with more causal outfits. The Gucci Soho Disco bag was always a front runner when I was searching. But to be honest, I had my reservations about it.
I’ve talked before about how I save for my splurge purchases in this post. And still to this day this is what I follow. So once I had enough money saved it, it was time to get serious on what I actually wanted and needed in a new bag. One Saturday I dragged Kurt downtown to try on bags with me. It was a wonderful day for me- him not so much haha. I can’t recommend this enough. Sometimes bags look different on you or you see something in store that catches your eye.
Honestly, I went to the Gucci store to purchase the bag, but for some reason I just couldn’t pull the trigger on it! I wasn’t sure if I really liked the tassel on the bag. But after looking at a few other camera bags, that’s just the style of the bag. I seriously was also considering this bag, which the tassel was removable. But at the time they only had it in white and I really wanted a more neutral color.
I then took to the internet and also my closet. I searched high and low to find how women style the Gucci Soho Disco bag and I loved what I was seeing. Women were styling it exactly how I would wear it. And I knew it was the bag for me!
Overall, I’ve gotten past the tassel and now I like how it looks on the bag. It adds a little pizazz to a rather plain and simple bag. The bag holds so much and its super easy to just throw on. And it really goes with just about every outfit from date night outfits to weekend athleisure outfits to work outfits. I find myself reaching for this bag all the time!
Pros to the Gucci Soho Disco Bag
1. The bag is much bigger than you think
You can actually fit way more in it than you realize. Here is what I usually carry in mine and it all seems to work- card case, day planner, pen, chapstick, keys, sunglasses, hand sanitizer, air pods and hand lotion. I can even fit my Louis Vuitton wallet in it, but then there isn’t much room for a lot of the little stuff, which is why I like to carry my card case.
2. The leather is very durable, but still very soft
You do not have to be as careful with the leather because it’s extremely durable. I mean you should still be careful with your bag, but you won’t see small scratches on it. Plus the pebbles in the leather will hide any tiny scratches you might incur over the years.
3. Timeless style
Gucci has made this style for years and honestly I don’t see them discontinuing it any time soon.
4. The color is gorgeous
Mine is in the rose beige leather and its truly the most perfect neutral color. It literally goes with anything and its not too light that you can’t wear it in the winter time. But also not to dark that it looks out of place in the spring/summer season. It can be worn year round. The bag also comes in black and red.
5. It’s super light weight
This bag has never felt heavy to me at all even with its packed full of contents.

Cons to the Gucci Soho Disco Bag
1. The strap curls up
It’s so nice that the strap is adjustable (a lot of styles that I looked at do not have an adjustable strap). But since I am short, I wear mine on the second to highest notch which means there is a little more left over that hangs off and that tends to curl up.
2. The tassel can be loud
Maybe this is just me, but I also sort of have this love/hate relationship with the tassel anyway. But whenever I am wearing the bag in the front and I am walking, the tassel jingles and it drives me nuts! I fix this by pushing the bag to my side and then it doesn’t do it anymore. This is probably something no one but me notices but it does drive me nuts at times haha.
3. The center of the bag sinks in
Overall the bag holds its shape very nicely. But I have noticed that the center of it tends to sink in a bit, which makes me nervous for the shape of the bag over time. I always make sure that when I’m not wearing it, I stuff it full with white tissue paper so it keeps its shape. Honestly, I don’t have to store it that often though because I’m always wearing it!
Where to Buy the Gucci Soho Disco Bag
I ended up ordering mine online at Saks, but you can also get it at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, the Gucci store, etc. It was nice to try it on at the Gucci store first though before ordering. That way I got to touch and feel the bag, try it on and really get the full experience. I just couldn’t pull the trigger the day I tried it on and when I finally decided this was the bag for me, I just thought it was easier to order it online. Saks was super easy and I didn’t have any issues at all. In fact, I received it two days later after ordering it so I was super impressed with their shipping.
My Overall Thoughts
I love this bag and ultimately I am so happy with it. I’ve worn it almost the entire Spring and Summer and am already planning outfits with it as we head info Fall. The leather is super durable and I’m not always that easy or careful with my bags. Hey, I live in Chicago and I’m always in a rush. And sometimes my bags suffer from that! So, I try to be as careful as I can, but I know if I’m in a rush it won’t get scratches that easily.
And it’s super easy to go with literally every outfit I own. I wear it with everything from leggings to shorts to dresses. It’s extremely versatile.
Lastly, it’s a classic bag, but it can also lean towards being trendy. With my style, I love preppy and classic styles. But at times I like to feel more updated and modern. And I really like that this bag lends to both sides of my style. So it literally goes with every thing in my closet. I think that’s why I wear it so much!
I also wanted to share some other styles I looked into and tried on before buying the Gucci Soho Disco bag. Ultimately I think I made the best decision for me, but there are so many other cute styles out there that might be better suited for you!
