I’ve had my Prada Galleria Saffiano tote now for a little over six months and today I want to talk about if it was really worth the splurge! I did so much research on this bag before I bought it. And I really took my time before purchasing it. I was spending the most I’ve ever spent on a handbag and I had been saving for months. So when I bought it, I knew it had to be something that I immediately wasn’t going to regret a year down the line. Overall, I love this bag. It’s a classic bag that is never going to go out style. I wear it dressed up, causal and even with leggings some days.
When I originally set out to save up for a bag, I had my eye on the Gucci Marmont Shoulder Bag, but once I had saved up the money, there was something holding me back on actually purchasing it. What initially drew me to the Gucci bag was the color. I LOVE the color of it. It can be worn with black, browns, navy- so very versatile. And the bag can be worn multiples ways. It has a sliding chain. Meaning it can be worn doubled up over your shoulder or pulled straight thru to be worn long as a cross body. If I was going to spend an obscene amount of money on a bag, I liked that this one had multiples uses. My only hesitation was that it was super trendy and I was worried it would go out of style after a couple of years.
Back in February, Kurt and I went on a little weekend getaway to Palm Beach, FL. If you’ve ever been there you will know that it is a very ritzy area, which I loved! One day we went shopping and it was all super high end. Think Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, Neiman’s, Sak’s, etc. I was in heaven! Kurt reluctantly went from store to store with me and let me oogle and try on every single handbag I’ve ever wanted.
Since we were having fun, we walked into the Prada section at Sak’s. And I tried on the Prada galleria tote. I knew this bag was a true classic, but truthfully it was never on my radar. But I immediately fell in love! I loved the structure of the bag and you could tell this baby was going to be around for years and years. A bag that will never go out of style. And they made it in that gorgeous color similar to the Gucci bag I had been lusting over.
After we got home from our trip, I was more confused than ever over on what bag to buy. But I didn’t want to rush myself because I wanted to have zero regrets. I googled, I took polls on Instagram, watched YouTube videos, scoured Pinterest and thought about how I would wear each bag. And eventually decided on the Prada bag! I knew it was the right choice for my style. And one day I envisioned passing this bag down to my daughter who would love it as much as I would. It’s a generation less bag- everyone wants to wear it!
Now that its been six months I want to talk about the pros and cons about this bag. News flash- there aren’t many cons!
Pros to the Prada Galleria Tote
1. Timeless and classic
It’s a timeless and classic bag that will never go out of style. I can picture myself, my mom and also my grandma (when she was alive) loving and wearing this bag. You can’t say that about many handbags!
2. Durable leather
The saffiano leather is so durable and scratch proof. When I get anything on my bag, it is so easy to wash clean. The leather doesn’t show any knicks or wear. So you don’t have to delicate or easy going on your bag. Stuff happens but when it does your bag isn’t going to have to suffer because of it.
3. Holds its shape
The bag holds its shape. You won’t see any sagging or the sides collapsing inwards. After using my bag for six months, it still looks just as good as it does the day I bought it and I don’t use any bag shapers when I store it.
4. Multiple ways to wear
It can be worn multiples ways. The bag also comes with a long strap (not pictured), so it can easily be worn as a cross body bag or over your arm (my preference). I haven’t tried the strap yet because I like the look of the bag without it, but I like that there is an option to wear it cross body if the need arises.
5. Holds more than you think
The bag is very spacious and fits way more than I could ever carry. I always have my wallet, credit card holder, sunglasses, chapstick, lipstick, and my Louis Vuitton clutch which holds a few makeup items with me. And I could easily fit way more in it.
Cons to the Prada Galleria Tote
1. The bag can feel heavy
Once you get all your stuff in there it’s like lifting a weight. And if you carry it for long periods of time, it can weigh you down. Or you can look at it like you are getting an arm workout in! Haha. Just kidding, but it does tend to be on the heavier side.
2. Inside lining looks inexpensive
This is a personal preference but I hate the lining fabric on the inside of the bag. It looks cheap to me. I will say it is easy to wipe clean when you need to. But when you are spending this kind of money on a bag, I personally believe they could have chosen a better fabric to use.
3. Price
The price is crazy high! Even though it is expensive, I will say this is a very well structured and timeless bag. You will have this for a lifetime!

Where to Buy
I bought mine at Sak’s on Michigan Ave and the sales associate who helped me was so informative and knowledgable. I went in one weekend to try it on again and take a few pictures. And he helped me with all of my questions. I went back a few weeks later to purchase it and he had it all ready for me! And not only that he gave me his personal cell phone number so I could text him any questions I had during those couple of weeks and still to this day if I need anything, I know I can text him. He was awesome!
One thing I wish I would have done a little more research on was when to actually purchase the bag. Sak’s runs sales every now and then and while I knew this bag would never be 25 percent off, it does apply to their gift card sale they run. A friend told me after I had already purchased my bag that she bought her bag during their gift card sale. This sale is when you spend a certain amount of money, you get a gift card back for say $100 or $500. The more you spend, the more you could get back on a gift card. I was so upset with myself that I never even thought to purchase it during one of those sales!! She told me when she bought hers, she got a big enough gift card that she basically got a free Gucci cross body. Lesson learned!!!
By the way I should also mention my bag is the medium size in color Cipria. It is a beautiful color! But it comes in a ton of colors like black, red, navy, etc. The choices are endless.
I’m already saving up for my next bag! It’s either going to be this YSL cross body or this Givenchy satchel. I hope this review helped! I know I found them to be extremely helpful when I was researching and trying to decide on a bag. I’ve truly loved this bag and wear it every chance I get!!
