What to Pack for a Beach Vacation

It’s February and spring time is so close, yet still so far away. I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for some warmer temps! And in two days, Kurt and I are getting on a plane and jetting off to Palm Beach, FL for a long weekend getaway. And I couldn’t be more excited!!! We always try to plan a vacation this time of year because we always need a break from the weather. The snow in Chicago can be a lot to deal with and we just need a little sunshine. And not to mention that I also need a tan! Here are my tips on what to pack for a beach vacation:

Beauty Products

I am so excited to try SuperGoop products. I’ve heard a ton of great stuff about the brand, so I made sure to stock up on sunscreen. And don’t forget sunscreen for your lips. Mine always get burnt because I forget to apply lip balm with SPF in it. I’m also packing this anti humidity spray. My hair has a little bit of curl to it and frizzes up very easily, especially in humid temps. Over the summer I tried this product and it helped so much to keep the frizz at bay. Also don’t forget a little bronzer. My fav that I’ve been using for years is Nars!

Swimwear

J.Crew, hands down has the best suits. Every year I buy a few pieces and they have lasted for years. I have a hard time shopping for suits because a lot of them these days are very cheeky and I don’t like that at all. J.Crew’s selection actually fits your bottom! And they have a mix of classic pieces and trendy items that you can mix and match. They have been my go to for swimwear for years!

Accessories

Every year when we go on vacation, I snag a pair of new sunglasses. This year, I bought these oversized ones and I adore them! And you can’t beat the price at under $70. I also splurged on these YSL aviator ones that I adore. They are super light and I know they will be perfect for a long day on the beach. You won’t get the dent marks on your nose that heavier sunglasses can leave.

And don’t forget a big hat or baseball hat. As I get older, I do not tan my face (completely opposite of my philosophy when I was in college!). So I make sure to wear a hat, big sunglasses and lots sunscreen. I also like to add bright jewelry like this pair of earrings or this pair to my outfits. It helps to add bright fun colors to your outfit while on vacation.

Shoes

For spring and summer I love wearing a wedge. They are so much easier to walk in and I love the look of them. You get the height of wearing a heel, but they are super comfortable. Mine are from a few years ago, but they have this updated pair here. I’m also packing this pair for walking around during the day and this pair for heading to the pool or beach. I absolutely adore this pair and they are my go to’s in the summer time (here is a less expensive version here). How cute is the bow?!?

Clothing

This year I am all about the lighter colored denim. I recently picked up this pair from J.Crew and they are amazing. They fit perfect and have more stretch than I’ve ever found in a pair of jeans. I also live in my white jeans. And on vacation I have to wear at least one outfit with my white denim. During the day I wear these jean shorts (would recommend sizing up at least two whole sizes) or these ones. J.Crew makes the best every day shorts and every year I buy this pair in a few new colors. I also love to wear fun tops that I wouldn’t normally wear at home or some flowy dresses if you are going to a more tropical destination.
