Jeans are everything to me!  That’s one of the reason’s why I called this blog Cashmere & Jeans.  If I had all the money in the world, I would constantly buy new denim.  At any given time, I have about 10 pairs that I want to purchase just sitting in my Nordstrom shopping cart.  But I know that every pair I lust over isn’t practical and I can’t have 20 pairs of jeans that I hardly ever wear.

Fall is the perfect time of year to re-evaluate your current denim situation and find the missing pieces you didn’t pick up from last year.  I love denim that has a lot of stretch to it because, hello, that just makes them super comfy to wear.  When I find a brand/style that I love, I buy them in multiple colors.  Don’t fix it, if it’s not broke!  Here are the 5 pairs of jeans you need in your closet:

A Basic Skinny

You will wear these jeans the most and they should go with just about everything in your closet.  I always say to splurge on denim because in the end, it’s well worth it.  Higher quality denim last longer, doesn’t stretch out, washes up nice and keeps the color.  My basic skinnies that I turn to the most are by Citizens of Humanity.  I’ve worn them all summer long and know these will take me thru fall and winter as well.  They can be casual and also dressed up, which make them so versatile in my closet.

 

Black Denim

This jean is so important for fall and winter!  I don’t typically wear a lot of black, but for some reason during the colder months I am constantly wear this color.  Black denim can also be dressed up for a nicer dinner or holiday events.  These black jeans are also by Citizens of Humanity and they are seriously the softest pair of jeans I own.  They are like wearing sweat pants, I swear!

 

Distressed Denim

If I had a dollar for every time my dad asked me if I actually bought my jeans to look like that, I would be rich!  But seriously, I love a good pair of distressed denim!  I haven’t had a chance to wear this black pair yet, but they will be making their way more into my wardrobe as we approach fall.  These ones are very distressed, so if that’s not your thing, you can go with a bit less distressing like these jeans (worn in this post here).  This pair was my first pair of jeans by Frame and they do not disappoint!

 

White Jeans

Hands down my most favorite pair of jeans right now is this white pair, also by Citizens of Humanity (are you noticing a trend here?).  I love the cropped version and they are perfect to wear during the summer months with wedges.  And I know I will get so much wear out of them this fall with a plaid shirt and my Tory Burch riding boots!  So chic!  Everyone needs at least one pair of white jeans in their closet.  They go with everything!

 

Wild Card

This is a place holder for a pair of jeans that are a little more trendy or a different style jean than you might typically wear.  Like a boyfriend jean, flare, etc.  Right now I would consider my new Rag & Bone jeans my wild card.  I know these aren’t necessarily that ‘wild’ but for me they are.  The raw hem at the bottom is more trendy than anything I have in my closet right now.  I wouldn’t recommend splurging on your wild card pair of denim because they probably won’t be ‘in’ by the next season.  Here is where you want to find them on sale or wait until you have a gift card.  That is unless you absolutely HAVE to have them, then I say splurge #yolo

Denim is clearly one of my most favorite items to talk about and to buy.  What brand/style of denim is your fav?

    My favourite pairs of jeans at the moment are my girlfriend jeans! Not as loose as boyfriend jeans, but not tight like skinnier. The perfect inbetween!

    1000% agree with all 5 pairs on here. I have those same Rag & Bone jeans and I absolutely adore them. The “wild card” pair of jeans in my closet is a pair of flare jeans. I was nervous to try them but I feel so retro chic when I wear them!

    Skinny jeans are my fav! Especially if they’re super soft & stretchy. My absolute favorite brand for jeans, by A LANDSLIDE, is American Eagle. Their jeggings are insanely comfy & they make talls — which I always need xx
