Chambray Ruffle Top and White Jeans + BLVD // Cashmere & Jeans

Last week, I celebrated my husband’s birthday (you can see a birthday gift guide here) and we went to a new restaurant called BLVD. So today, I thought I would do something a little different. Living in Chicago and especially where we live, I am always getting asked about new restaurants or my fav places to go. So I thought I would talk a little fashion and also a little food!

First off, the fashion part. I am really loving this chambray ruffle top and white jeans. Lately, I have been obsessed with all things ruffle and I just CAN’T get enough of them. These white jeans have been a staple in my closet all spring and summer. And with all of the talk about Fall, I can’t wait to show you how you can wear them into the Fall and Winter months as well.

And lastly my pink lips! I love a bright, bold lip. Your hair can look messy and your makeup can be a little worn off, but the second you add a bold lip, you look FIERCE. One of my favorite lipsticks are these Stila liquid lipsticks. They pack a full punch of color and the color lasts for hours, which makes re-applying minimal.

I didn’t wear this outfit to dinner (you can see my outfit on Instagram here), but the other week when Kurt and I decided on where to shoot, we landed on this spot. We knew a restaurant was opening soon. And the outside of the restaurant is just too cute! It ended up being the perfect spot for a photoshoot.

Now for the food. The food was unbelievable. The menu is made for sharing, so we decided to order a little bit of everything. We started with the whipped avocado toast and wow. This one might have been my most favorite dish. It was so flavorful and had this oil on top that made the whole thing! Next up we had a pasta dish called Cacio e Pepe which was angel hair pasta, parmesan cheese and pepper. For such few ingredients the flavors were so rich and delicious. With this course, we also had the roasted carrots which had this delicious sauce with them. They were dynamite. Our last course was the burger because that’s what the birthday boy wanted. It had this mayo, onion sauce which made the whole burger. This rivals an Au Cheval burger and that’s saying a lot!!

Dessert was even better. Since it was Kurt’s birthday, they brought us an oversized rainbow flavored macaroon with ice cream in the middle. We couldn’t stop eating it!! And because it was his birthday we also decided to order the mini milkshakes, which were so chocolaty and delicious. They came in mini milk bottles and were so fun to drink!

I can’t go without saying how great the service and food was at BLVD. And the decor might be the best part about this new restaurant. When you enter, you feel like you are transported to somewhere else. The best term to describe this restaurant is swanky. Everything is super dark, they have these sexy round booths and OMG, chandeliers all over dripping in crystals. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic date!
