We just got back from our trip to Disney World. And while it is fresh on my mind I wanted to share our travel must haves for Disney World- specifically in September. If you are curious about our itinerary or what I wore, I wrote about it in this post here. I made notes when we were traveling both on the plane and in the parks so I would remember what we used, what was helpful and what I would bring again! Hope you find this helpful.
Travel Must Haves for Disney World

For the Plane Ride
- Stroller– We decided to take our own stroller vs. renting one and I was very happy with that decision. I love our stroller because it folds up small enough to fit in the overhead bin so you don’t have to gate check it and worry about it getting ruined.
- Roller Suitcase with seat- This is the coolest suitcase designed for kids at a much more affordable price point. I bought this for our spring break trip earlier this year when we weren’t brining a stroller. I was worried she would get tired walking thru the airport. She loves riding on it and thinks it is so much fun! And we got tons of compliments and looks all around the airport. Everyone thought it was such a good idea. Not only does my daughter love it, but it is a great suitcase and fits a ton in it.
- Sticker Books– My daughter loves these so much and they kept her occupied while we were waiting to board and on the plane. And she even did them at night in our hotel room. I wish I would have bought more to be honest! I bought her this one, this one and this one.
- iPad– We allow unlimited access to her iPad on travel days. It is what it is! We have this case on her iPad and it worked out great to sit on the tray table.
- Plug in Headphones– I wish I would have packed some for my daughter. She wanted to watch a movie on the screen on the plan but the headphones the airline provided wouldn’t stay in her ears. Next time I’m packing these.
- Neck Pillow– We bought my daughter a kids friendly neck pillow on her flight earlier this year and I brought it with us on this trip. It makes it easier for her to fall asleep if she wants to. She didn’t sleep at all on this flight- I think she was too excited!
For the Parks
- Stroller Sign– I thought I was being extra when I bought this sign, but it was absolutely, 100% worth it. It can be hard to find your stroller when you park it. You might not remember where you left it or the staff moves strollers around to make room. So being able to spot our stroller in a sea of black strollers was a necessity.
- Stroller Clip– These giant clips were so nice to have attached to the stroller. We could add our backpack or shopping bags onto them when we got too tired to carry it all.
- Water Bottle– I was so happy I brought my own water bottle into the parks. Buying water is crazy expensive. And in September it is still very hot, so we all drank a ton of water. I did find it hard to find water fountains. But I always filled up with ice and water at the beginning of the day at our hotel. This one is great because it doesn’t leak and you can throw it at the bottom of the stroller and not have to worry. I do wish I would have brought a smaller water bottle to keep in our backpack. There were times when we were in lines and didn’t have access to the stroller so it would have been nice to have water on us.
- Air Tag– I didn’t do this, but I probably would for our next trip. Add an air tag to your stroller. I’ve never heard of anything happening, but there were a few times where I mildly panicked because we couldn’t find our stroller right away. We always found it, but an air tag would have been useful.
- Portable Charger– 100% pack a portable charger. Your phone dies because you are constantly on it in the Disney app. You do all your lightening lanes on your phone, check for wait times, order food etc. You can also use Google maps in the app to tell you step by step instructions on how to get to the ride if you can’t find it. All of it was great and useful, but it drains your battery.
- Ponchos– In September, you never know what the weather will be like. We only had rain one day. And it was at the end of the day when we were ready to head back to the hotel. These were useful to not get drenched by the rain.
- Backpack– We used a backpack (in navy) to carry everything we needed. My husband carried it most of the time. I do wish I would have brought my Lululemon belt bag for my phone. I didn’t think I would need it because we had the backpack and I was just going to make my husband carry everything lol. But then I was carrying my phone around in my hand a lot and I was really nervous I was going to set it down and forget about it!
- Fan– This is an absolute must! My daughter used it the most when she got hot. Plus it kept her busy when we were in line or doing something she didn’t want to do lol. It holds a charge pretty good, but next time I would bring two so you can always have one full charged and another charging.
In My Bag
I added my small pouch to our backpack with all of the mom stuff. Here is what I carried:
- Miss Mouth’s Wipes– This is the best stain remover. We use it at home and I always carry these wipes in my bag. They come in handy because you can treat the stain right when it happens.
- Hand Wipes– Things get messy and sometimes you just need a wipe! These are the best because they smell really good and don’t dry your skin out.
- Hand Sanitizer– We used this a ton especially before meals. This one is nice because the shape of it fits nicely into your bag.
- Kleenex– I always keep these in my bag too.
- Lip Stuff– I always need something on my lips. This has been my favorite lately because it is super moisturizing yet shiny like a gloss and lasts forever! This way you can look cute in all the pictures your husband is not going to take of you haha.
- Sunscreen– If we forgot to put sunscreen on that morning, I had this stick in my bag we could easily apply.
- Travel Tylenol– I keep this in my bag because you never know!
- Lotion– I always like to lotion my hands and this one smells amazing.
- Summer Friday’s Hydration Mist– I like to use this on the plane. It feels so good on your skin and makes you feel more awake.
- Wallet– I’ve used a card case (in navy) for years because it is small and fits everything you need. I splurged years ago and absolutely love this one!
Other
- Suitcases– These are the suitcases we own and I have been very happy with them, especially for the price. We’ve had them for five years and have had no issues. I did notice when I pulled mine out for this trip that one of the wheels is busted. It still worked fine, but I am going to replace it soon. I am thinking about getting this one because I have heard great things about them.
- Packing Cubes– I always use these when I pack as they keep you really organized. Next, I want to try these compression packing cubes. Anything to save a little more room in your bag!
- Snacks- Pack lots of snacks!! We ate them on the plane, in the room at night or the morning, waiting in line, in between meals, etc. Pack some in your backpack every day for the parks too.
Hopefully you found my travel must haves for Disney World helpful. Have fun on your trip!
