We just got back from a weekend trip in Chicago so here is everything I packed and wore in Chicago! I use to live in Chicago for eleven years which is crazy, but I haven’t been back to visit in maybe two or three years. I really miss it so much, but also I don’t haha. Does that even make sense?! I miss the hustle and bustle and all the cool things a big city offers, but I also love my quaint town I live in that never has any traffic and is incredibly family friendly. I am so glad I got to really experience living in a big city, but in this phase of my life, I love the suburbs even more. But it’s a lot of fun to visit!
We went for a wedding and stayed right downtown on Wacker and it was the best location. We were right in the middle of everything and very close to Michigan Ave, which I was excited about. On Friday, we arrived into the city around 2:30 and I headed right to get my eyebrows waxed by my old girl! I haven’t been able to find anyone here in MI that is even close to how she does them. But she is a dear friend, so whenever I get chance I try and see her. I seriously almost missed my appointment because traffic was so bad! I don’t remember it being that bad…things I don’t miss at all!
Then we headed to the hotel to check-in and we immediately got outside for some fresh air. We found ourselves at Nordstrom on Michigan Ave. and I was in heaven! I have felt so deprived because the shopping here in MI is just not that good…like at all. I could have spent so much more time there. Kurt literally had to drag me out haha.
Travel Look

T-shirt | Shorts | Espadrilles | Necklace | Earrings | Suitcase | Duffle Bag
We drove to Chicago which we always do. By the time you factor in getting to and from the airport, it’s about the same time as drive, so we always opt to drive. I wanted to be comfy so I wore these shorts that I reach for consistently this season. I own three pairs now! (red, white and chambray)! I also really love this t-shirt. It is the perfect weight and length. Cropped, but not too cropped. I own two of them, but I think I need a third one because I am always reaching for one.
Dinner Outfit

Top | Pants, similar here, here and here | Sandals | Bag | Earrings
We had a welcome dinner the first night with our friends at Green Street Meats in the West Loop- my favorite part of the city. When we were at Nordstrom, I realized they carried one of my new favorite brands- Doen. I own one other shirt from them but I never know sizing and sending stuff back is pain sometimes. So it was nice to try on a bunch of different styles. The XS in this top fit better especially in the arms- you could see my bra in the smalls. I don’t usually buy much black in the warmer months but I really loved this top and decided to brand out a bit. I got a lot of compliments on it that night. My pants are from last year, but these, these and these are similar.
Walking Around & Lunch

T-shirt | Jeans | Flip Flops | Bag | Necklace | Earrings | Sunglasses
The next morning we got up and had a quick breakfast and then we hit up Michigan Ave. again! Some stand out new stores to me was Lola & the Boys. I bought my daughter a rainbow Hello Kitty dress that she has been wearing ever since I gave it to her! Pop Mart for labubus, Collar & Co. is a new store I found for Kurt a few months ago and I didn’t realize they had a store in Chicago so that was fun to see the stuff in person. I also found a Hello Kitty cafe, which we didn’t go to but whenever we make it back with my daughter we will go! She loves Hello Kitty. We walked all the way to the end of the shopping and then met some friends at Parlor Pizza for lunch and cocktails.
It probably seems silly to wear jeans in July, but this style is so comfy and loose fitting so they were perfect and very comfy. It is always breezy in Chicago and I actually had goosebumps especially in the morning. I probably could have chosen a more supportive shoe for walking around, but these are the comfiest flip flops so I was actually fine.
What I Wore to the Wedding

Dress | Heels | Bag | Earrings
Our friends go married which was the whole reason for the trip. I wore this pretty dress with these heels. I really wanted to get a dress that I would wear again. And my plan is to wear this again with my wrap sandals for date night or even next year for the 4th of July. The dress does run small around the ribcage- I ended up having to size up to a medium for a more comfortable fit. These heels look high, but they are actually really comfortable. I wore them the entire night dancing and while my feet were a little sore the next day they weren’t too bad. I’ve had worse before haha.
Travel Look

Sweatshirt | T-shirt | Shorts | Espadrilles | Sunglasses | Necklace | Earrings
For our drive home, I wore another pair of favorite shorts with a tee. I have no idea why I added a sweatshirt because it was actually so hot once I got outside. But the AC was blasting in our room and I was chilly. I love to wear this pointelle t-shirt to feel a little more elevated than just a basic tee. It’s really cute and sweet in person!
Such a fun weekend with my husband in my favorite city with all of my best friends! A weekend I won’t ever forget about 🙂 You can shop everything I packed and wore in Chicago here!
