Last week, our white kitchen cabinets were completed and I wanted to share the final look!! I am overall very happy with them and just excited that it is finally complete. It took a lot out of me haha. Not having a kitchen for a week, eating out and all the dust really gets to you while renovating. But it is always worth it in the end.
Our Kitchen Before
When we first moved into our home almost five years ago, I wasn’t crazy about the kitchen. But I knew it had potential. Here is what our kitchen looked like in the listing photos. We immediately painted the walls Benjamin Moore Gray Mist which I kind of have always regretted. This is the color of most of our home and while I do really like the color, it is just kind of blah in this space.

In April of 2023, we updated the hardware, changed out the light blubs and added some new accessories. I put a band aide on the problem haha. Updating the hardware made a really big difference because it was more my style. The hardware we originally had was too modern for my taste. I was really happy with our kitchen at this point, although I always dreamed of white kitchen cabinets!

Painting the Cabinet in Our Dining Room
In May of 2025, we decided to paint the cabinet in our dining room. It is kind of weird cabinet as it is in the kitchen and also in the dining room. It’s like they cut out a section of the wall and plopped a cabinet in there haha. It’s kind of weird, but I also kind of love it because of all the storage it offers. Plus I love being able to display my grandma’s china! I absolutlety LOVE how it turned out. This was a little test to see how we would like the whole kitchen cabinets painted and it was a 100% go- it made such a difference in how bright it made the room.

Our Completed White Kitchen Cabinets!

We used Sherwin Williams Extra White for the color. I really like a bright white so this was an easy decision for me! Right before they were about to start the kitchen, I thought maybe I would do a fun color like light blue or green. But I’m glad I stuck with classic white.
The nice thing about the cabinets now is that they are all so smooth since they had to sand them so many times. We had a few doors that weren’t in the best condition, but now they are like new!
My Plans for the Kitchen

Because of course this isn’t the final step lol. Are things every truly done?! The answer is no, always.
For whatever reason, I feel like the rug in front of our sink looks so dirty in here now. Maybe it is dirty lol? Or it just isn’t the right colors for this space now. I might try to wash it first. And if it still looks this way, I have my eye on this rug that is washable. That might be a better option anyway as this is a really high traffic area.
And all I have been talking about is adding a roman shade in this print for the window. I cannot wait for this!!!! It will perfectly tie in all the blues I have in my kitchen. Always order samples of fabric before you make any decisions because the image online does not do it justice. It is even prettier in person!
Someone I was following on Instagram mentioned that you can do a faux roman shade which peaked my interest because I don’t think we would ever close the shade. It looks just like a roman shade, but doesn’t work. And saves you a lot of money on fabric because you don’t need as many yards!! It’s an option I am going to consider lol.
Kurt and I are also going to attempt to add a backsplash ourselves. It looks so bare without one and I think a nice simple, subway tile would look amazing. I found this adhesive tile that we might try. But I need to do a little more research before we commit to it.
One day the plan is to replace our appliances and upgrade the countertops. I have dreams of marble but we will see. I know marble can be pricey and it’s very sensitive so I want to do a little more research on it before we make the plunge.
And it’s not pictured here, but you can see it in this post here. We have a big empty wall where we are supposed to have an eat in kitchen table. We don’t need the extra seating so for now, we added a bar cart for some additional storage. My dream is to one day add more cabinetry or move the fridge over there. I think we have a lot of potential one day. My plan is to talk to someone about the layout before we make any other decisions. For now, I will be enjoying my white kitchen cabinets that have taken almost five years to get!
