Today I’m back with another home post because our classic coastal dining room is complete! Last week, I shared our living room. These two spaces sort of flow together. We don’t have an open concept home- our home is almost 100 years old! But all of our rooms have a really nice open flow to them. It’s one of the things I loved most about the home. It was open enough, but still closed off so you could define each space. So because all of our rooms sort of flow together, I knew I wanted to decorate them all in a way that was cohesive, but that they would be different spaces. And stand alone on their own.
The flow of our house is you walk into the entryway. Directly in front is the stairwell (see our new carpeted stairs here), the kitchen (see our updated white kitchen cabinets), followed by the living room which flows into the dining room and off the back is our play room and powder bath. Over the years I have shared these spaces along the way and I am so happy that everything feels complete! I mean complete for now lol. There are always dream projects down the road (I still have lots of ideas on how to make our kitchen better- some day!). But for now, I have no big plans or little corners that I still need to decorate!
Our Classic Coastal Dining Room

Table & Chairs

Our table and chairs are actually from our apartment in Chicago, so we have had them for over six years. I still love my Serena & Lily Riviera chairs and I would not change them. I think they are perfect in this space and fit my classic coastal aesthetic perfectly. Our table has seen better days, but for now I am ok with that. My daughter loves to color and do arts and crafts and when she gets marker all over it, I don’t have a fit about it. Someday, I want to replace this table with a slightly bigger one. We have a big family and when we host, it would be nice to be able to seat eight people around it. But I won’t be replacing our table anytime soon so it’s just a nice to have kind of thing for now. I know there will be lots more arts and crafts and homework on this table in the years to come. And I like not having to stress about it.
Lighting

This chandelier was one of the first big splurge I made when we moved into our home. I had always loved and admired this chandelier and I knew I had to use it somewhere. I love it so much. It’s classic, modern and perfect for our classic coastal dining room. I have thought about adding a fun shade, but I think I am going to leave it as is. I love the simplicity of it and the classic lines.
Artwork

When I first started decorating my classic coastal dining room, I had chosen a different piece of artwork. And as I keep adding to the room, it just didn’t work anymore. So I sold it and bought this piece and had it framed locally. And I absolutely love this piece of artwork. The color of it is perfection. And it ties all the blue and green in this room together perfectly. I’ve thought about adding a gold picture light to the top of this piece. So that is still something I will probably do at a later date.
Sideboard

Last Christmas, I ordered this sideboard that I have been dreaming about for over five years. It is just the perfect piece. And when it delivered it really brightened up the space. It has a really good amount of storage with shelving inside the doors. The rattan ties in from my dining room chairs. I added these affordable lamps in the perfect blue from TJ Maxx. I am all about mixing high and low all over my home! I’m not a huge fan of the lampshades that came with them, so I might eventually change those. I recently found this shade at a really great price so I actually might order two of those. Fun lampshades are $$$ so either I wait and invest in something or wait for the discount brands to make something I like lol. This one seems like it would be a great option.
Curtains & Blinds

This was the first room I added bamboo shades too. And then I added them to my entire house because I loved them so much in this space! They are a much more affordable option than going completely custom like I did in our play room. The curtains are from Amazon. I’ve had great luck with them over the years because they have good designs at great prices. One day, I would love to replace these curtains and invest in a pretty blue and green designer fabric. But for now, these give the same look for a lot less.
Open Shelf

It’s taken me a few years to collect items I want to display in this open shelf, but now I love how it turned out. I have China from my grandma’s, items I’ve bought at Estate sales, vintage finds, plates that I adore! It’s fun to mix it up for the holidays too. My mom has beautiful Christmas China that I display here during the holidays.
China Cabinet

We have this built in China cabinet in our dining room that also leads into the kitchen. It’s like they cut a hole in the wall and stuck a cabinet in it haha. It’s kind of weird, but over the years I have learned to love it. It provides a ton of storage for us and I love being able to display my grandmother’s China. This was the first cabinet we painted white. It was a really ugly dark color on the bottom with lighter wood on top. It never matched and was never my style. We painted it white and gave it new life!
Bar Area

We have a small area where we keep our bar stuff. And I adore how this little corner came together. The table is ever so slightly too big. But I am probably the only one that notices it! I ordered this stool last year and love how it completed the space so perfectly.
