Sloane’s bedroom got painted last week and it turned out better than I could have imagined! So today we are talking about my daughter’s big girl bedroom design. I knew it would be cute, but I didn’t think I would love it as much as I do. Kids rooms are just so fun to decorate because you can infuse a ton of color. I love creating a space that is all hers and shows her personality. Her only request was she wanted purple walls and we delivered! Here is a sneak peak of the color! It is Benjamin Moore Sugarplum.

When I think of purple, I think of a deep, dark, rich violet color which was not going to happen! That is way too dark and saturated for my style. But lavender is still purple and pleased the four year old, so I would say I picked a winner!
When my mom moved in over the summer Sloane moved to what was our office which had dark grey walls. It’s a pretty small space so we immediately bought her this daybed and my ideas began swirling. I wanted to use as much from her nursery that we could like her nightstand and her curtains. I found this rug which perfectly tied in the green from her bed, the pink from her curtains and side table and the purple walls she requested.
Her artwork doesn’t really go anymore in her new space. It is too sweet and feels too young now. I was googling and then it dawned on me that a beautiful Gray Malin piece would be perfect in this space!! He is my favorite photographer and I just love his work. I picked this one because the dogs add a little whimsy. My plan is to hang it above her desk. It is an investment piece that she can have for years to come. And if she doesn’t want it, I will gladly take it!
Once the walls were painted I could really see it all start to come together. Some things I thought I would use from her nursery like her artwork just don’t work anymore in her new space. Her full nursery is linked here! Plus, she’s older now so she deserves a space that is more tailored to her likes.
While they were here painting, we moved her dresser out to give them a little more room to work around and I didn’t realize how much space it freed up. Her dresser is pretty big and it just didn’t work in this space.
It got my creative wheels turning and my initial thought was to buy her this adorable purple scallop tall dresser. This would be really free up a little space and still be functional. But then, after thinking about it a little longer, I don’t even really think she needs a dresser. We are re-doing her closet to be more functional and we will have a lot of extra space we can add baskets to store her clothes in. Plus her nightstand has two drawers.
So I decided to nix the dresser and buy her this desk in purple! She loves to sit at my mom’s desk in her room and color, so she is so excited about having one in her own room!
