10 Beach Must Haves

During the summer months, I love going to the beach and relaxing!  We now live in a building that has an amazing pool, so we mostly stick to our pool.  But every now and then we love heading to the beach.  Here are my essentials for the perfect beach day:

  1. Cute cover up– I just ordered this one from Zappo’s and I am in love!  The fit is great and I love that the sleeves are a bit longer, but are still short enough to keep you cool.  It provides the protection you need from the sun, but won’t make you too hot.
  2. Swimsuit (top and bottom)- I have been purchasing swimsuits from J.Crew for years now!  They have the best selection, great prices and they fit soooo good. I always wait until they have a sale (usually you can get them for 25% or 30% off!) and then I purchase them.  Don’t wait, as the good sizes tend to sell out fast!
  3. Flip flops– I like a good rubber pair of flip flops to wear to the beach or pool, but of course they have to be cute!!
  4. Hat– Lately, I have been really into hats, especially at the pool.  It gets so windy (it’s on the 5th floor), so I always wear one to tame my hair.  But I also like to wear one to protect my face from the sun.  I wear sunscreen everyday, which I talked about in this post, but I like the extra protection a hat adds.  I am also loving this hat or  this baseball hat.
  5. Sunscreen– This is one of the most important steps while at the beach!  I burn so easily, so it is an absolute must for me.  What I have to remember each time I apply is to make sure I really rub it in.  I am known to not rub it in all the way or miss spots and my tan ends up so splotchy!  I also prefer the original sunscreen vs. the spray.  You get more coverage and I know for sure that it was actually applied to that spot. With the spray, you never know where it’s going!
  6. Straw bag– You need a good tote to store all of your stuff in for the beach and straw is perfect.  It has holes in it so the sand will fall right thru and not make a mess of your bag.  This one isn’t straw, but how cute is it?
  7. Lip Balm with SPF– My lips always get chapped and burnt at the pool, so it’s important to make sure they are protected as well.  It’s always those random little areas on your body that you don’t think about that always seem to burn.  Read more about this lip balm in this post.
  8. Water Bottle– I drink so much water, especially at the beach!  I just got this one and I am so obsessed.  I didn’t think I could love a water bottle as much as I do!  Kurt basically forced me to get a new one because my old one was always leaking.  The best part about this one is that it has a straw, which makes me drink so much more water.
  9. Sunglasses–  I have always had a love obsession with Ray-Bans and these are my favorite sunglasses to wear.  Not only do they look great, but they protect your eyes.  Make sure you pay the extra money and get the polarized pair.  Trust me it is well worth it!
  10. A good book- I love to read, but sadly I haven’t been doing much it lately.  I have been too busy with this blog!  Reading at the beach is the best.  You can relax and catch a tan at the same time!

    I agree with your whole list but I like to also have a portable speaker to listen to music with my friends. I have a trip coming up so this is definitely going to be helpful for me.

    The pool area is amazing, and what a cute bathing suit! I never seem to have time to read anymore (I used to read at least a book a week) blogging does take up a lot of time, lol!
