Fall Front Porch

Wreath | Doormat | Planters

…

I was so excited to decorate this year for Fall, but especially my front porch! In years past, I always decorated our balcony in Chicago. But Kurt and I were the only ones who were able to enjoy it. No one could see if from the street because we were so high up. I might have went a little crazy with all the pumpkins and mums this year, but I love how it turned out. I wanted to keep things short and sweet today and share everything I used to decorate my fall front porch!

  • First off, I painted our front door black. It was red before- RED! We have a yellow house and those colors just don’t go together. You can see the before in this post. I got a quote to have all three of our exterior doors painted and it was wayyy more than I wanted to spend. So I decided it was going to be my first DIY project. I still have some touch ups to do and wow, it is a lot harder than it looks. But I love the results!
  • I bought these planters from Walmart. And for the price I am pretty impressed with them. I added a brick to the bottom of the planter to give my mum a little height.
  • I also added this wreath to the front door. Originally, I had also bought this wreath hanger but I think my door was too tall for it and it just didn’t fit correctly. I might have to rethink it for next year because I really like it and want to use it. I ended up attaching my wreath with a command hook.
  • And I couldn’t resist this adorable doormat. Back in Chicago I always had to resist the urge to buy cute holiday doormats because we had zero storage. But now that I have a basement and garage- let the holiday mats commence!
  • Once I had my decor pieces I went to the local nursery and bought my pumpkins and mums. You will likely need a lot more than you think, so stock up. I didn’t want to buy planters for all of my mums so I tilted the pumpkins around so it sort of hide the plastic containers the mums came in. And then I started to stack my pumpkins going from biggest and then filling in with smaller pumpkins. It look me about 10 minutes in all to decorate. There is no right or wrong way to decorate!

I’m so proud of how my fall front porch turned out this year 🙂

Meet Amanda

Hi- my name is Amanda Faber. My husband and I moved in 2021 into our first home where we are slowly decorating and renovating our 1927 colonial home. My style is a mix between coastal, traditional, modern and grandmillenial. You can expect to find all the best blue and white finds, mixed in with lots of rattan accents. I am also a new mama to my daughter Sloane who was born in 2021! I love to share home décor finds, preppy fashion and all the peonies & hydrangeas from my garden. Welcome to Cashmere & Jeans!

I have a love/hate with family photos. It always s I have a love/hate with family photos. It always sounds like a great idea when you book them, but they always end up being way more work than you think. Work always ends up being crazy that day, something always goes wrong with someone’s outfit (this year it was Sloane’s adorable pink shoes that I swear I just bought her. They were too tight 🤨- so she threw on her rain boots). The weather is never quite what you expected when you planned everyone’s outfits. I swear I threw my dress on and had 2 minutes to spare before we were out the door. The stress and planning that entails for 15 minutes of photos is crazy lol. And then you get them back and they perfectly capture your family 💙 I’m grateful we do these every year even if the process is a little crazy #fallfamilyphotos @tessamerrillphotography

After that when he would wear it I would remember he wore it to my shower. It represented all the hard times we went through to get Sloane here and it always took me back to that special day. So now I get to wear it proudly 🩷
There is no more special bond than a daughter and There is no more special bond than a daughter and her father and I have to say I was blessed with one of the best 8/18/46-4/20/25 🩷 My dad always told me ‘if you look good, you feel good’ and that’s when my love of fashion and clothes started. I will always remember him when I hear an oldies song playing, when I see a classic car (especially if it’s a red 1967 Barracuda), when I’m eating a donut, drinking a hot cup of coffee or when I’m ironing my clothes. Yes I still iron haha but I got that from my dad. He was always put together and his clothes were always crisp. I know he touched so many lives including mine. He will be greatly missed 🩷I will never forget the last words he said to me and the sound of his voice when he said ‘I love you Moo’. “The best things in life aren’t things”- Art Buchwald— 16 candles was the song we danced to at my wedding and my favorite song as a little girl that we used to dance to
