…

I’ve been on a big clean out/organizational kick this year. I usually get like this after the holidays, so this isn’t new. Every year I try and chip away little by little to make our home more organized. I’ve been going thru all of our drawers and closets and cleaning them all out. It makes things a lot easier to clean when you already have good storage systems in place because then you just need to get rid of the stuff you are no longer using, etc.

Anyway, I’m sure every parent can agree that it gets overwhelming after Christmas. The kids all get so many toys and you are looking at them all like where am I going to put all of this?! I feel you! Usually, I try and do a big clean out before Christmas and before her birthday, but I didn’t do that this year. So the day after Christmas I rage cleaned and went thru it all after she went to bed haha. I couldn’t take the clutter!

We don’t have a separate play room per say. It’s more like our family room because I work in there now and we also watch TV in there at night. But it’s also where we store almost all of Sloane’s toys. We do have some in her bedroom, but she doesn’t really play up there like I thought she would. So I am always on the hunt for cute (and affordable) storage systems and storage baskets. Clean up in our house is always pretty simple because I just throw everything in a basket and close it up behind storage. It might be a mess inside, but outside you would never know the difference haha.

Storage Baskets

I actually own and use all of these storage baskets in this collage. Some are more affordable than others 🙂 but I wanted to give you a variety to choose from.

I have this medium size basket and it sits nicely tucked away in a corner. Right now I store blankets in it, but it would be great for toy storage too. I just ordered the small size to sit next to the one we have because we really need more storage after Christmas! I am planning on housing all of her baby dolls in this.

These pom pom baskets are so, so cute! I have these tucked away in my Ikea bookshelf. Typically I use these for blocks to keep each set together, puzzle pieces or just those random little toys haha.

These white plastic storage baskets are the absolute best!! I have used these for years and years and every year I buy more. Seriously, you can never have enough of these. My favorite sizes are the XL (I use these to store stuffed animals, blankets, etc.), the small (best for small items like jewelry, princess accessories, shoes, etc.) and the half medium (there are great for storing art supplies, markers, etc.).

I have these in every closet in my house- they just work every where and they are such a great price too. I bought the grey originally because I thought the white would get really gross and yellow. But I like the white better! And kind of wish I had just bought white in the first place. But I own too many now at this point to start over. I buy the same color because I mix them and use them all around the house so everything looks uniform and I can re-arrange over time if my needs change.

Earlier this year, I added these rope baskets in Sloane’s closet and they are great. These smaller ones I use for random objects and smaller toys. Why do toddlers collect so much random, small stuff?! haha. And I use the bigger ones for stuffed animals, blankets, etc. They are great!

Recently I got this scallop storage basket and it’s adorable. I have one right now at our entryway to store hats and gloves (as seen here). But I just bought another one to use in our play room to store items to Sloane’s kitchen. She got a ton of new stuff so I need a better storage system.

And lastly this beautiful blue storage basket! I have this in navy (you can see it here) and it is just gorgeous, honestly. It is so well made. I have this on my bar cart and don’t use it for toy storage, but I wanted to include it in case you were looking for cute, well made baskets, especially if you have a coastal play room!
