I cannot even begin to wrap my head around my baby turning 1! The year has flown by and I honeslty, just can’t get over it. It felt like years and years when we were going thru IVF. Time just seemed to drag on and on. But then once I got pregnant time just seemed to speed up. And here we are a year later and our baby is one.
I don’t think I will ever get over that Sloane and Kurt share the same birthday. The chances of that happening are very slim. It feels like the biggest gift for them to share such a special day together. And after so many struggles to expand our family, it feels like a little wink from above. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that would happen. My due date was the beginning of September so we were always curious if she would have an August birthday or September birthday. I will always celebrate this little blessing!
Sloane made me a mom and I will never forget that. I feel so lucky to have experienced her growing inside of me and feeling all those kicks. She is a dream baby and one that everyone wishes they had. She is the type of baby that makes you think you can have a million kids. We fell very lucky to have such an ‘easy’ baby.
I can’t get over that just a year ago she was this tiny 5lb baby that could barely even lift her head. And today she is climbing all over the place, pulling herself up and never wants to sit still. She has a full head of hair and all of us are already jealous of it. I just know she is going to have the most beautful hair as it grows and she gets older. It’s so long now that even when she first wakes up, I have to add a little ponytail or else it will be in her eyes.
She’s a no frills kind of baby and these days hates getting changed and dressed. She is the most chill baby ever and is just always going with the flow. She loves new adventures especially when we take her out to dinner. Her favorite thing is to eat and look around at all of the new people. We go on a walk every night after dinner and she loves to just relax in her stroller. Sometimes she even gets a pre-bedtime nap in. We never hear a peep out of her!
Sloane loves to eat and we haven’t found much that she doesn’t like yet. Lately her favorites include cheese, pasta, carrots, mangos, strawberries, eggs and raspberries. Her best friend is our cat Charlie. She loves to pet him and chase after him when he runs away haha. Her and Addie have become little buddies too. Which is a huge improvement from when we first introduced Sloane to Addie. Let’s just say Addie was not a fan at all. But these days, Addie loves eating all of her leftovers she drops on the floor.
She crawls all over, is pulling herself up, has six teeth (two on top and four on the bottom), says Dada and Mama and has the most precious giggles ever. I just want bottle those up! Every morning when I go to get her out of bed, she has a big smile on her face and is so excited to see me. I secretly love the nights she has trouble falling asleep and needs me to rock her back to sleep. The way she lays her head on my should and fits to snuggly in my arms, I don’t ever want to forget.
