2 Affordable Ways to Add Art to Your Home

I have been on a major home décor kick lately and have added so many good items to our home!  It has been a very welcomed project and a nice distraction from everything that has been going on in the world.  I think I’ve always enjoyed home design and finally finding the perfect pieces for your space.  One thing that I will admittedly confess to is I find adding art to your space really difficult.  There is so much to choose from and you could spend upwards of thousands of dollars on a single piece.  Which maybe someday I will invest in, but for now I’m all about cheaper options.  Today I wanted to chat out two affordable ways to add art to your home.

This is really the first place we have lived in that has a lot of wall space that we can add art to. I have worked hard this past year to add rugs and decorative items and big pieces of furniture, but our walls have been left pretty bare.  So, once I got all of the bigger stuff done in our space, I knew it was time to move onto art.

Buy a Digital Print & Frame It

The whole vibe of our apartment is coastal and beachy feeling. I love the designs of Serena & Lily, but on a budget! I knew and I wanted a beach scene on the wall behind our dining room table.  My inspiration was by one of my favorite photographers, Gray Malin.  Aren’t his pieces dreamy?!  One day I would love to own a piece of his artwork, even if it has to be something small. I’m in love!

So taking my inspiration, I started to browse different sites and came across Etsy and this digital print.  I loved the colors and knew it would add a nice pop to our wall.  I just didn’t know how I would print it or have it framed. That seems a little complicated to me haha!

A lot of bloggers I follow rave about the company Framebridge.  This company does custom framing jobs, but they ship it to you making it super easy during these times.  They have a ton of different frames to choose from.  Once I started playing around on their site, I realized you could upload any picture, choose a frame and they would ship you the final product. For the size and scale that I needed this was a very affordable option!

I hit checkout on my Etsy digital print, easily uploaded it to the Framebridge website, choose a frame I liked and size and hit checkout!  It was so easy!  I ordered mine at the beginning of the stay at home orders and it only took a couple of weeks for them to ship.  I was easily impressed with the quality all around when it arrived.  It looks like I spent hundreds of dollars, but it was under $200 for this entire piece!  I know Framebridge is a little more backed up now (it states it on their website), but I would fully consider using them again.  They do wonderful work!

Buy an Original Print & Frame It Yourself

A second way to add affordable art to your home so to buy a print on Etsy and then frame the item yourself. I bought these beautiful designs off Etsy that I fell in love with for you master bedroom.  I also have two hanging in my liviign room and I just ordered this one for our bar cart.  They are gorgeous in real life!

Finding frames can be a little more difficult to be honest.  My tip is to look for frames that have an oversized mat.  Those make the art look a little more custom.  Or maybe I am just partial, but I love pieces that are matted.  I think it looks a lot nicer.  I ended up finding these frames in white from Amazon! The oversized mat makes them look at lot more expensive than they actually are.  Pottery Barn also makes beautiful frames, but their prices are a little higher priced.  Either way some great sources for frames are Amazon, Tartget and Pottery Barn.

Here are some other digital files or prints that I love and have considered for my home.  Etsy is a great resource for art!

Meet Amanda

Hi- my name is Amanda Faber. My husband and I moved in 2021 into our first home where we are slowly decorating and renovating our 1927 colonial home. My style is a mix between coastal, traditional, modern and grandmillenial. You can expect to find all the best blue and white finds, mixed in with lots of rattan accents. I am also a new mama to my daughter Sloane who was born in 2021! I love to share home décor finds, preppy fashion and all the peonies & hydrangeas from my garden. Welcome to Cashmere & Jeans!

I have a love/hate with family photos. It always s I have a love/hate with family photos. It always sounds like a great idea when you book them, but they always end up being way more work than you think. Work always ends up being crazy that day, something always goes wrong with someone’s outfit (this year it was Sloane’s adorable pink shoes that I swear I just bought her. They were too tight 🤨- so she threw on her rain boots). The weather is never quite what you expected when you planned everyone’s outfits. I swear I threw my dress on and had 2 minutes to spare before we were out the door. The stress and planning that entails for 15 minutes of photos is crazy lol. And then you get them back and they perfectly capture your family 💙 I’m grateful we do these every year even if the process is a little crazy #fallfamilyphotos @tessamerrillphotography
