I promise I won’t say this every month, but where has this month gone?!? I feel like I was just writing the March Favorites post and here we are at the end of April! This month literally felt like Spring was never coming! We had so much snow and cold temps, that I was seriously contemplating why I live in Chicago. Every morning when I first saw Kurt, he would tell me he had a surprise for me. And it was always that it had snowed the night before haha. Not much of a surprise! And of course Addie loved the weather- go figure!
This month was pretty slow for me and we didn’t really do as much as we normally do. I blame it on the weather. Every weekend, it sounded so much more fun to snuggle up and watch movies. We were even so over the weather that we would take Addie to doggie daycare on Saturday’s to let her burn off some of her energy. We did not want to stand outside at the dog park in the freezing temps!
But finally, we have nicer weather. And I think Addie is in her personal hell haha! The other night, it was super gorgeous out and Addie was panting on the couch, but it wasn’t hot at all in our apartment. Kurt and I just had to laugh at her because she is such a winter dog!
Ok, enough about the weather- on to my April favorites!
April Favorites
- Favorite Purchase: I have been more than obsessed with these white Sam Edelman loafers! They are one of those shoes that are perfect dressed up for the office and also super cute with jeans on the weekend. And they are so comfortable! If you can’t tell by now, but I am all about the comfort. I walk too much to wear shoes that hurt my feet. I’m already planning on buying these in black for the Fall, unless I can talk Kurt into these Gucci loafers!
- Favorite Food: We didn’t really try any new recipes at home this month, but one night we did venture out and try The Chicken Shop in the West Loop. And let me tell you it is probably the best chicken ever. It is a really cool and casual atmosphere that is located in the SoHo House, so you know it’s gotta be good! It was perfect for an easy and simple date night!
- Favorite Beauty Item: I’ve worn this foundation for years now. At my friends wedding a few years ago, the makeup artist used it on me. And my skin glowed that day, but I felt like I was literally wearing nothing at all. Ever since then I’ve been hooked. Well, I was due for my refill and I couldn’t find it ANYWHERE. Not one site had my color and I even tried a few Sephora stores, but they didn’t have it either. The makeup artists swore it wasn’t being discontinued, but I was just about out. So I gave in and tried this new one. But I almost love it as much as my tried and true! It goes on more matte, which is great for me because I tend to get a little oily as the day goes on. And it has a heavy coverage without the weighed down feeling. I’m kind of hooked!
- Favorite Event: A couple of weeks ago was my girlfriends from college baby shower that we traveled back to Michigan for. I got there right on time and was chatting and catching up with another girlfriend. And she let the beans spill that our good girlfriend who lives in GERMANY was in town for the shower!!!! I almost started to cry because I was so excited! We weren’t able to see her or her husband at Christmas time when they were home last and I’ve regretted it every since. She lives thousands of miles away, so it’s so hard sometimes to keep in touch. It was SO good to see her and hug her!!! And my pregnant girlfriend is just adorable. She is glowing and makes pregnancy look like a breeze. And you can hardly tell she is even carrying a baby. By far my favorite event of the month!

Cheers to warmer weather and more shopping in May! May is actually one of my favorite months because peonies are finally in season, it’s Addie’s birthday and my wedding anniversary!
