Our Coastal Inspired Playroom Reveal

I can’t believe this day is actually here! We have lived in our home for almost four years and the time has come to finally share a reveal of our coastal inspired playroom. I’m really excited because this is one of my favorite rooms in our home! When we moved in, we had zero furniture for this space. So mostly everything is new or I’ve stolen it from other spaces haha. Little by little I’ve chipped away at this space and I’m so glad with how it all came together. Here was my original design plan.

In a way, it was easier to work with because we had nothing. So I was able to plan out the concept without having to try and mix anything in that we already own. In a way, that is easier. But it is also really overwhelming because there are so many options.

About Our Coastal Inspired Playroom

We use this room probably the most out of any room in our home. I call this the playroom because this is where we have all of Sloane’s toys. And also where Kurt and I watch TV at night. And to top it off, I work in here now! Kurt and I used to share an office and it was just getting to hard to juggle so he kicked me out this past fall haha. It’s nice having our own space to take calls though, so I actually really like it.

So this space has a lot of function. Most importantly we needed a lot of storage options for all the toys. I am one of those persons who doesn’t like clutter. So my theory is throw it in a basket and close the cabinet haha. I have some posts here and here that I go into more detail on our toy storage systems if you are interested!

I cannot even believe this is the same room because the before is just….bad! It was so dark and depressing and I hated it so much. I knew the big windows were nice and we get tons of natural light but the dark walls really made it feel so small and depressing.

This was after we had the floors re-done.

We decided to have our contractor mud over the seems in the walls and then we added wallpaper. You can read more about the process here. It was a lot of work and I was a little nervous the seams would pop thru but it’s been three years and it still looks so good. I also love this wallpaper so much and I’m so glad we went with it. It’s subtle and light, but adds a nice pop of color to the room.
