I have been seeing old pictures pop up on my phone lately and it has been almost nine years since I started this blog. And when I started out, I really was only sharing outfits. It was the creative outlet I needed at the time and still do. I started to get a lot of traction on more home decor and I kind of liked not having to be in the pictures lol. So I sort of leaned into more home items. And got away from sharing my outfits. But I want to get back to sharing them more even if it is just a quick snap.
I’ve been thinking about this space more and more and what I want to do with it. And I think I finally landed on something. I am just going to share what I want to share. If that means it’s home items, clothes for myself or even clothes for my daughter- I’m going to share it. Everyone always says niche down and find what you are good at. But I really don’t care about growth. This is just a little side hobby and if it makes me happy, then I am going to do it.
And that means less Instagram. The more time I spend on that app lately, the less I like it. I am not seeing posts from creators I enjoy following and it just zaps my time as I get too wrapped up in it. I have been subscribing to more and more Substacks and have really enjoyed reading those- like the good old blog days!
My plan is to still share on Instagram but more on stories. I will likely post to my feed a few pictures here and there and maybe the occasional reel but I loathe making reels. I’ve never gotten good at it and I just don’t like making them. Call me old fashion, but I still prefer photos over videos. Maybe I will play around with it more and find my style with them.
So here we go- I am a mom who works from home. I want to look polished and nice without it being too fussy. I want to dress my age but still be a little trendy here and there. But most importantly, I want to look good in the clothes I wear. And I want to invest in good, quality clothing that works for my lifestyle and style. I’ve been reading labels a lot more lately before I buy anything and if it’s not 100% cotton, silk, etc., I more than likely am passing on the item.
I still plan to share home related items. But my house shockingly feels pretty done. So I will still share when we have a big project or I find something I love. My living room is almost done which has been bringing all of us so much joy. We hardly ever used to spend anytime in that room- we were always in our back play room. But since we have gotten new furniture, we hang out there all evening with the fire going. Over the weekend my new coffee table arrived (you can see it here) and my antique chairs I am having re-upholstered should be done soon. I’m hoping this weekend!
So I wanted to share some recently outfits I’ve worn lately. Dressing in the spring time makes me so happy. I used to be a fall girlie but I’ve changed my tune as I have gotten older. Spring is my season! The colors of spring, white jeans, cotton sweaters, layers are all how I love to dress.
